Vitamin B12 (Methylcobalamin) Liquid
Methylcobalamin • 10mg / 10mL Sterile Solution
CAS: 13422-55-4
This preparation supplies methylcobalamin — the bioactive, methyl-substituted form of cobalamin — as a pre-reconstituted 10 mg per 10 mL sterile liquid. Methylcobalamin is the obligate cofactor for methionine synthase (MTR / MS), the cytoplasmic enzyme that remethylates homocysteine to methionine using 5-methyl-tetrahydrofolate as the methyl donor. Intracellular conversion can also generate adenosylcobalamin (the mitochondrial cofactor for methylmalonyl-CoA mutase, MUT), making methylcobalamin a versatile substrate for studying cobalamin-dependent one-carbon and propionate metabolism. The liquid format eliminates the variability that in-house reconstitution introduces into dose-response work.
Key Research Findings:
- Acts as a direct cofactor for methionine synthase without requiring removal of a cyano group — a structural distinction from cyanocobalamin, which must be reductively decyanated before use
- Animal models of peripheral neuropathy report improvement in nerve conduction velocity under chronic methylcobalamin supplementation
- One-carbon-metabolism research uses methylcobalamin to probe the homocysteine–methionine–SAM axis without confounding intracellular conversion steps
- Liquid presentation enables consistent dosing in pharmacokinetic and PK/PD studies across labs
- Manufactured to research-grade specifications under controlled aseptic processing conditions

Documented Studies & Applications
This peptide is intended for laboratory research purposes only. Below are documented research applications.
Storage & Reconstitution
Storage Conditions
Store lyophilized peptide at -20°C for long-term storage (up to 24 months). For short-term storage (up to 4 weeks), 4°C is acceptable. Keep away from light and moisture.
Reconstitution
Reconstitute with bacteriostatic water or sterile water. Add solvent slowly down the side of the vial. Do not shake vigorously. Store reconstituted peptide at 4°C.
Handling Precautions
Handle with appropriate laboratory safety equipment. This product is for research use only and not for human consumption.
