GHK-Cu (Copper Peptide)
Copper Tripeptide Complex
CAS: 89030-95-5
GHK-Cu is a naturally occurring copper tripeptide complex (Gly-His-Lys-Cu²⁺) found in human plasma, saliva, and urine. Plasma concentrations decline significantly with age — from approximately 200 ng/mL at age 20 to 80 ng/mL by age 60+. Genomic studies have identified GHK-Cu as a modulator of over 4,000 human genes involved in tissue remodeling, wound repair, and extracellular matrix organization. It promotes synthesis of collagen types I and III, decorin, and glycosaminoglycans while simultaneously upregulating antioxidant enzymes including superoxide dismutase (SOD).
Key Research Findings:
- Gene expression profiling demonstrated modulation of 4,000+ genes related to tissue remodeling, with significant upregulation of collagen I, collagen III, and decorin synthesis
- In vitro studies showed dose-dependent stimulation of glycosaminoglycan production and fibroblast proliferation in wound healing models
- Preclinical studies demonstrated anti-inflammatory effects via upregulation of SOD and other antioxidant enzyme pathways
- Age-related plasma concentration studies confirmed a ~60% decline from age 20 to 60+, correlating with reduced tissue repair capacity in aging models
