Thymosin Alpha-1 (Ta1) is a 28-amino acid peptide originally isolated from thymosin fraction 5 of bovine thymic tissue. With a molecular weight of 3108.0 g/mol, Ta1 is one of the most extensively characterized immunomodulatory peptides, with approved research applications in over 35 countries for hepatitis B and C investigation contexts. Its mechanism of action involves enhancement of T-cell maturation and differentiation, activation of dendritic cells, augmentation of natural killer (NK) cell cytotoxicity, and stimulation of Toll-like receptors TLR2, TLR5, and TLR9. The peptide has a plasma half-life of approximately 2 hours.
